Reports of the last ENPM meeting at Warszawa (national Polish conference on functional disorders, June 5 -7, 2009) from a long discussion about future aims of ENPM and next steps (B. Wasilewski) and at the WCPM in Torino (September, 23-26, 2009) from a scientific symposium about European guidelines in GI disorders and CHD and a ENPM-meeting about actual situation in Austria and Germany and next steps of European integration of Psychosomatic Medicine (H.C.Deter)

Dan Dumitrascu reported about the Erasmus initiative and a new common EU-proposal for a structural network with 5 partners (CIPUS-Network). He will be the next president of ECPR 1014 in Romania

ENPM-Homepage - we will be in contact by our mailing list and speak about it at the next meeting in Warszawa January 21-23, 2011 (R.Verissimo)

Cooperation with the national European societies and the idea of working together - G. Schüßler spoke for more European initiatives, not only communication on a website but also closer communication in a group/society/federation/association. “But: Who is doing the job?” ENPM members discussed advantages and disadvantages of closer organisational structures.

All participants of this meeting agreed in choosing a new European Psychosomatic structure beside the Homepage of the European Network on Psychosomatic Medicine named:
The European Federation of Psychosomatic Medicine
The aims of this society are:
to foster Psychosomatic Medicine in clinical practice, research and education, to strengthen medical standards and the rights of patients
Cooperation with all scientific societies in the psychosomatic field, especially the EACLPP, ICPM, ISBM in the sense of the European Network on Psychosomatic Medicine
Announced from the audience as chair of this new society G. Schüßler has been elected (9/1/0) together with M. Beresnavaite (9/1/0) as co-chair, and B. Wasilewski (9/1/0) as treasurer.
The new homepage of this society should shape as: “efpm.eu” (B.Wasilewski will check it if it is possible).

The next ENPM-meeting will be held at Warszawa January, 21st, 2011 to organize the next steps in founding of the new federation.

Hans-Christian Deter

  Post Scriptum

After this ENPM meeting there was an additional meeting in Innsbruck (July 2010) with Wolfgang Söllner, the new president of the EACLPP and Gerhard Schüßler. W. Söllner proposed a common action of ENPM and EACLPP and invited G. Schüßler, A. Lentjes (former president of EACLPP) and me (H. C. Deter) for the 25/26th of November, 2010 to Nuremberg. There we discussed further common actions, especially a change of the membership (not only psychiatrists but also other specialities and other health care professionals) and other organisational issues of EACLPP to combine strength of ENPM and EACLPP. After this meeting it was proposed to invite members of the ENPM-initiative to discuss common interests at the next EACLPP business-meeting in Budapest/Hungary (June 2011).
We should discuss all this new development at our next Warszawa meeting
